Product Description

Hepatitis E (HE) is an acute infectious hepatitis caused by hepatitis E virus (HEV). It is mainly transmitted by contaminated water sources, but also through food and daily life contacts. It was formerly known as intestinal transmission of non-A and non-B. It often causes outbreaks or epidemics, but it can also be sporadic. The fatality rate is about 0.5%-1.5%, slightly higher than that of hepatitis A, but the fatality rate of hepatitis E in pregnant women can be as high as 20%. China is one of the high epidemic areas of hepatitis E, accounting for about 10%-20% of the clinical sporadic hepatitis cases. HEV has four genotypes, genotype 1 is a prevalent strain in Asian and African developing countries; genotype 2 is distributed in Mexico and some African countries; genotype 3 is widely distributed in the world and detected in patients with sporadic acute hepatitis in many countries except Africa; genotype 4 is only detected in human beings in Asian countries. HEV in China is mainly genotype 1, part of which is genotype 4. At present, only one serotype of HEV has been found.
